Welcome to Mannhaus
Welcome to Mannhaus
We are excited to annouce a new name for Dungeon Warehouse.
Mannhaus
This change is the next step in the evolution of our business as we celebrate our first five years.
We realise that you will wonder why we have made this change.
Below is a series of questions and answers to help us explain to you our reasons.
In the mean time do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns of your own.
Welcome to Mannhaus.
A space dedicated to men and mates.
Paul and Richard
Have you sold Dungeon Warehouse ?
No.
There has been no change to the structure or ownership of our company.
DW Trading Pty Ltd remains 100% owned and operated by the two of us.
Did you change it for legal reasons ?
No.
There was no legal requirement to change our name.
We have made this change on our own reasoning.
Then why are you changing your name ?
The reason for changing our name is to reflect the business as it has matured over the last five years.
However to answer this question properly, we need to explain where the name Dungeon Warehouse came from originally.
The idea for our business came about over five years ago.
The intention was to build a web site that specialised in selling bondage equipment, and Dungeon Warehouse was an appropriate name at that time.
Within two months of launching the site, a small shop in Abbotsford came up for lease which provided an ideal opportunity to test the market with a retail store.
Suddenly our focus shifted from the web site to the retail environment, which is where all of our energy has been directed over the last five years.
Upon opening the retail store, it became evident very quickly that a specialised bondage store was not what Melbourne wanted.
Our philosophy has always been to listen to our customers and adapt the store where appropriate to meet those needs.
With thanks to the tremendous support we have received by our community, this has lead to the store that we have today containing a diverse range of high-quality leather, rubber and lifestyle products.
Don't you like the name Dungeon Warehouse anymore ?
Quite the opposite.
It is a name we will always be proud of and hold affection for as it is where we started.
When we moved into 130 Hoddle Street we wanted to build a shop that lifted the standard and perceptions of adult stores.
We are proud of our business and we want our customers to feel good about visiting the store.
We think the name change is the final piece in that jigsaw.
Why change now ?
We actually decided to change our name three years ago at which time we chose the name Mannhaus.
However it was at that time that we moved into 130 Hoddle Street, and to change name and relocate at the same time was considered too high-risk.
So we decided to wait until our 5th birthday.
What does Mannhaus mean ?
It is a Germanic term that literally means a building or establishment dedicated to men and mates.
We think this is the best way to describe our business.
What changes will we see and when does it all happen ?
The change of name is literally just that.
We are still the same company run by the same two men who have served you for the last five years.
As you can imagine, changing the name of a shop is a huge undertaking.
We have almost completed making changes and these will continue over the coming months.
We intend to have all changes implemented by 30 June 2010.
Retail Store
For our customers who visit the retail store in Abbotsford, you would have already seen changes in signage and packaging.
We also have a lot of other changes planned for the shop that will be released throughout 2010.
Web Site
We have a whole new web site that is currently being built with a fresh new look to match the new name.
This will be coming online shortly with an expanded range of content.
Online Store
Ironically as a business that was going to be online only, we recognise that this is our biggest weakness.
Rest assured that this is all about to change.
